“The Distinctives of Grace" - When you come to worship at Grace on a Sunday morning, you step into far more than a mere church building. You step into a church which finds itself a part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) which is itself situated in a long history of doctrine, of principles, of a host of saints long past who developed and fought for what we have termed “The Reformed Faith.” If you are new to Grace, to the PCA, or to the Reformed faith in general, we invite you to attend our upcoming “Distinctives of Grace” class starting February 5. This class is designed as an introduction to what makes Grace, Grace. We will look at many of the theological principles guiding Grace as well as its relationship to the PCA and Reformed theology in general. Led by Christian Brewer in Classroom B.
ReformerZ Sunday School

NEW ADULT CONTINUING EDUCATION CLASS
BEGINS SUNDAY APRIL 2, 2023
-
Starting Sunday April 2 (Palm Sunday), we will begin to study the book "Knowing Sin" by Mark Jones. This will be a combined class in the Fellowship Hall starting at 9:15am and will taught by Jerry Pedine, Andre Schoeffler and Christian Brewer.
John Calvin writes that to know God more, we must know our sin more as well - "“Our wisdom, in so far as it ought to be deemed true and solid Wisdom, consists almost entirely of two parts: the knowledge of God and of ourselves… Thus, our feeling of ignorance, vanity, want, weakness, in short, depravity and corruption, reminds us, that in the Lord, and none but He, dwell the true light of wisdom, solid virtue, exuberant goodness. We are accordingly urged by our own evil things to consider the good things of God; and, indeed, we cannot aspire to Him in earnest until we have begun to be displeased with ourselves.”
Calvin, Institutes, I:1, 37-38.
In Knowing Sin, Jones dives into the study of sin (what theologians call “hamartiology”) using Puritan wisdom to shed light on the subject. Jones calls us to "lay sin bare in all its ugliness." You will be convicted, you will be challenged, and you will desire to love your sin-bearing Savior even more.
