Children's Ministry

The Grace Kids children's ministry understands that equipping our youngest family members to love God and love their neighbor is our most important calling. We seek to minister to families with little ones -- infants, toddlers, and preschoolers -- and bigger kids, too, all the way to 5th grade. Families with children in 6th-12 grade should check out the "graceyouth" section.

NURSERY

  • Infant and Toddler Nursery (3 - 36 months): Our infant nursery is well equipped to serve our youngest Grace Kids. We have age-appropriate toys and games, gentle music, safe places to climb and explore, and more. For nursing moms, part of our infant nursery is partitioned off just for you, allowing you and your baby to feel like you are "part of the action" while enjoying privacy.
  • Preschool Nursery (3 - 4 years): Our preschool nursery contains plenty of space to get the wiggles out. We have our room open, but separated into play "zones" so that children can comfortably find a favorite toy. There's a giant caterpillar to climb, a cozy spot in the sun to read, and lots of toys so that children this age can use their imagination.

SUNDAY MORNING

On a typical Sunday morning, children are cared for and taught in age-appropriate classes and our nursery is staffed with volunteers. All children’s rooms are located in the children’s hallway, immediately outside the sanctuary. We do have a check-in station for our nurseries, and we ask that guests arrive a few minutes early to fill out an information sheet. Parents should leave phones on "vibrate" so that they can be paged in case of emergency.

Here's the breakdown:

9:15 AM  -  Sunday School

Infants and toddlers (3-36 months) are cared for in the nursery. Sunday school classes are available for children 3 year-olds and up. Classes are split into preschool (3-4 years), younger elementary (5-7 years), and older elementary (8-11 years), and all classes use the Generations of Grace curriculum which walks through the entire Bible in three years. All classes teach the same scripture text and lesson, with increasing levels of depth and understanding as children reach higher levels of maturity and readiness. Parents who have children in multiple classes can have terrific conversations after church, talking with their whole family about what was discussed in class.

10:00 AM  -  Family Fellowship

After picking up all of their children from the nursery and individual classes immediately after Sunday school, families fellowship together in the narthex. Parents can use this time to supervise their children on our outdoor playground, have a snack, or change their child's diaper. Young children can be checked into the nursery (see below) starting at 10:15 in preparation for the worship service.

10:30 AM  -  Worship Service

Infants and toddlers (3-36 months) are cared for in the infant nursery and preschoolers (3-4 years) are cared for in the preschool nursery. A light snack is typically provided for our preschoolers; if a child has food allergies, parents are asked to bring a labeled snack for their child. Beginning at age 5, children remain in the sanctuary with their parents for the duration of the worship service. We love having children in the service, participating and worshiping alongside the grownups! Parents are encouraged to help their child engage with the service through singing, finding the appropriate scripture in the pew Bible, and more.
